How to support us
Research into experiences of sexual violence indicate that:
- Since the age of 15, approximately 1 in 5 women have experienced sexual violence.
(Australian Bureau of Statistics August 2006, Personal Safety Survey Australia 2005, Cat. no. 4906.0, ABS, Canberra, p. 11.)
- One in three women internationally will suffer rape or attempted rape during her lifetime.
(UN News Centre 2008, UN-backed TV series peels back silence surrounding worldwide sexual violence United Nations, New York, viewed 5 June 2008)
- Since the age of 15, 25% of women experienced unwanted sexual touching.
(Australian Bureau of Statistics August 2006, Personal Safety Survey Australia 2005, Cat. no. 4906.0, ABS, Canberra, p. 9.)
One woman is one too many.
You can support BRISSC in working towards ending sexual violence against
women and children.
BRISSC is funded by Queensland Health to provide limited support services
to women who have experienced sexual violence. We seek additional sources
of funding to continue to promote social change through community education,
training, social action, resource development and research.
Your financial support will assist us to advance community responses
to sexual violence.
